I recently bought one of these Nostalgia Electrics KPM-508 Old Fashioned Kettle Popcorn Maker. Not from this site, but i the site i did order it from got it to me in about half a week from the time the order went through and this was without expedited shipping, the shipping was free from the site i bought it from. Just to let anyone thats interested in this item know, i read alot of reviews on this item and most of them made me very leary about ordering one at all, no matter how cute i thought it was. Yes there are a bit of kernels that dont pop, but hey u can always put them back in on the next batch you make. The cleaning is simple and easy too, hint on that is remove the kettle from inside and unplug it then it wont be in your way while your cleaning. Throw in enough oil and popcorn to make one batch and you'll have enough popcorn for 1-2 people to snack ok during a movie, if you want or need more popcorn dont complain, this item is a blast and pure fun to use. My daughter and i have already made atleast 4-6 batches of popcorn within the first 2 days that i recieved it, we love it! Ohh and as far as the handle being hard to install, i dont understand how that could be, it was simple for me and trust me i'm not any kind of carpenter or mechanic or electrician of any kind. I do suggest that if you buy this item be wise and tighten any screws, but do not tighten them too much, you dont want to break it. Also the one i got is only as loud or noisy as you'd expect it to be because it is electric after all. As far as the housing at the top cracking and breaking from the heat, i see no reason in ever needing to use the heating lamp and if you turn the machine off like your suppose to when the popping is done, this item shouldnt get so hot that anything would crack or break on it. I hope this review helps others out there that are considering buying this item. I use a liquid oilish butter that i find in the popcorn section, and just cheap popcorn that i can get anyday at my local walmarts store. I look at this item as part toy and part machine, because it does the job its suppose to do and even better who isnt a big kid at heart, im loving my new toy! I'm Very Glad that i didnt let the bad reviews i read keep me from buying it.
