This is the worst vacuum ever. It's messy to empty and the filter is extremely hard to remove and put back in. The hose comes loose often so there's no suction. A very poor design. I would not recommend this vacuum to anyone.

I was really disappointed in the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. I have 2 dogs that shed non stop. I thought since I paid $145 for this, it would work great. NOT the case at all. If I didn't throw the box out already, I would have returned it. I have a old beat up $40 Bissell that works much better than the over priced Pet Hair Eraser. It doesn't pick up the dog fur, it just pushes it around, and sends the dog fur flying on my hard wood floors. I am really disappointed and found out that spending more money doesnt mean you are getting a better product. Not in this case anyway. This is the last time I will ever pay three times as much money for something when the cheaper product works much better. I am really disappointed and feel I got ripped off. Buyer Beware - this vacuuum cleaner is not worth it. Don't be like me and buy this - you will regret it.

Hi! I'm 70 years young. I love my new bissell vacumn because it's lightweight and moves across the rug with ease. I have a cat who sheds. My vacumn cleaner is a blessing compared to my old heavy hoover vacumn. Now vacumning is fun and besides that it picks up all the cat hair. THANK YOU BISSELL - LOVE, JUDY

This is the biggest waste of my money. It is very heavy. It may pick up pet hair, but can hardly pick up anything else. The small pet brush doesn't even work as it stops rotating with a little pressure. It is a very poorly designed vacuum as it is very hard to replace the attachments. It is very messy to empty and hard to replace container after emptying. I will be investing in a new vacuum soon. It will not be Bissel.

This is the best vacuum I've ever used. I borrowed it from a friend. We have no pets, our carpet is only a year old and we don't wear shoes in the house. I couldn't believe how much fine dirt came out of the carpet. If I had pets this would be the vacuum to buy.

This vacuum made my 1200$ Kirby look like #%$& . What a great vacuum I have 3 cats and a dog and after going over the rug after vacuuming with my Kirby I still picked up enough hair to make a dog and a cat. And I vacuum everyday! And I thought my house was clean until I used this! Well worth the money

I purchased one of these fellas today after having just returned my Dyson. Yes, that's right, I RETURNED MY DYSON! To be honest, I am still scratching my head as to why so many people throw praise at the Dyson. I had one of their "Animal" vacuums for one day, and although it was a nice product... really, is it worth almost $500? I mean, I am talking about a LOT of money here, so why should you spend that much money on a vacuum cleaner?

The simple answer is that you don't have to. The Dyson Animal picked up just a small amount of debris from my fully-carpeted apartment when I tried it out. The Bissell Pet Hair Eraser was almost half-full after I used it earlier today, only 12 hours after having using the Dyson.

I'm not sure what to make of this, to be honest. The Bissell (which costs about 1/3 the price of the Dyson) seems to do the job much better. Although the unit is quite bulky, and requires some assembly (the instructions were a joke), I have much cleaner floors as a result. And my biggest peeve about the Dyson was that, after paying all that money for a product that was called "The Animal," I still had to pay an extra $69 for the pet hair attachment! Is it me, or is someone trying to rip me off here?

As for the Bissell, it comes with all of the attachments that you will ever need, and did a great job on my upholstery as well as my carpets. Although the hose isn't as long as the Dyson, I was able to clean everything that I needed to clean without any setbacks.

My conclusion is this - if you believe that a Mercedes Benz is the best car out there because of its price tag, then you will probably be better off with a Dyson. However, if you just want a vacuum cleaner that does a decent job regardless of how much it costs, then go with the Bissell.

Simply put, my Bissell Pet Hair Eraser vacuum cleaner does a better job than the Dyson Animal, plus I have an extra $300 in my pocket.

Now, does that seem like a no-brainer to you?

Review:
I used this vacuum cleaner for the first yesterday and it was truly impressive. My husband had a hoover for millions of years and it started smelling funky whenever we turned it on so it was time for a new one. My husband has one cat that super sheds a lot and cat hairs ARE everywhere. So I was specifically looking for a vacuum cleaner aimed at pet hair. There were a lot of reviews for the Dyson but $300+ was a bit too much for me! I read all the reviews for the Bissell and the consensus I got was that almost everyone was happy - that it was powerful, definitely got the hairs, a little heavy and the assembly instructions was a joke, and it was so-so on hardwood floors.

To address the powerful nature, yes it was truly powerful. I was SHOCKED AND DISGUSTED when we only did a bit of the carpet and so much yucky gray stuff got sucked in! This was the first time I used it so I kinda knew there would be a lot of dirt. Needless to say we had to empty the canister 3 or 4 times. You definitely saw the dirt swirling in the cyclonic thing. Oh yes, we also had some gray sandy stuff - which is weird because just like a previous reviewer said we don't really step on the carpet with our shoes. It was cool (and disgusting) to see how dirty my carpet was. I'm hoping after this initial cleaning I won't have to empty out the canister much.

Heavy - I assumed it was monster heavy based on some reviews. Well, it wasn't THAT heavy. I'm 4'11/106 lbs and my husband is 6'2 175+ lbs and we both thought it was fine. So sure there was a little bit of weight but I think it's the same as the other heavy duty vacuums. When we started vacuuming, it was not hard to push it forward and back. It almost was pushing itself forward actually. We used the pet hair know 2nd lowest level.

Assembly - I actually assembled it myself and my husband a bit after 85% assembled. I anticipated the complexity of assembling and yes, the instructions were truly sucky. However, I kinda figured out everything and I think it took me 10-15 minutes to assemble. It's not that hard - not that easy either but if you look at the part names and the actual picture you'll pretty much figure it out.

My wife and I regard ourselves as pretty tidy people but we were both shocked at what this vacuum cleaner pulled out of our carpets. We had to stop and empty the container after completing only small sections. Hopefully this won't continue as this first pass pulled it all up but clearly our previous vacuums were not doing the job. Worth every penny we spent!
